Home-Start relies on charitable donations, grants from local authorities and charitable trusts. The economic climate over the past seven years has made it progressively more difficult to maintain the same levels of service over subsequent years with some organisations having to reduce services; sadly some Home-Start’s have closed.
The Home-Start network is dependent on volunteer trustees and home visitors providing their time, and a small team of paid staff co-ordinating and managing the day to day activities. The more money we raise, the more volunteers we can train, the more families we can support.
Home-Start local schemes in Hampshire receive partial funding from local authorities Hampshire County Council, Portsmouth City Council, and the Isle of Wight Council. They also apply for additional grants from companies, trusts and foundations to cover running costs. Home-Start schemes are also dependent on local initiatives to raise funds – this is where you may be able to help.
