National storytelling week – 30th January to 6th February 2016

Everyone loves listening to a good story and Home-Start volunteers enjoy telling stories to the children and parents they are supporting across Hampshire every day of the week.  Home-Start promotes the enjoyment of books and reading together, story telling, and learning through communication and play.  Our volunteers will be contributing to National Storytelling Week, an annual event which has been organised by the Society for Storytelling for the past 16 years.

Established in 1993, the charity aims to support and promote the most ancient art of oral storytelling.  The Society is open to anyone with an interest in storytelling, it brings together tellers and listeners, professionals and enthusiasts, to celebrate the power of the spoken story as a traditional craft, as a modern form of entertainment and as a powerful educational and therapeutic tool.  To find out more about the Society go to their website at www.sfs.org.uk
