Welcome to Home-Start Hampshire
Home-Start Hampshire is in the exciting position of recruiting its first Chief Executive to shape and develop a new organisation to meet the increasing needs of families in Hampshire. We are at a critical point in our development having completed a yearlong viability study with external consultants. As a result of the study, six Home-Start’s are planning to merge in Spring 2018. Home-Start has a long and proud history of delivering home and community based early intervention services for children and families across the UK. Our work in Hampshire began in Havant in 1983 when local social care and health professionals identified the need for early support in the home to prevent statutory intervention, family crises and breakdown.
We want to see a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life.
We understand that being a parent or carer can be very challenging, especially when children are young. Many parents feel exhausted and overwhelmed by the stresses of family life. For some it’s a particular struggle because they are also coping with issues such as post-natal depression, their own or their child’s illness or disability, isolation, financial difficulties, unsuitable housing, or multiple births.
That’s when parents need support, that’s when Home-Start can help
We can offer a carefully selected volunteer, who has parenting experience, who will visit regularly and offer emotional and practical support. This friendly one to one support is a simple yet effective way of helping families to cope during a difficult time.
